Pondhawk
I met up with two friends at the wildlife refuge this morning and we had a very enjoyable walk through the woods and along the marsh. It was cool and sunny with a light breeze and just perfect in every way. As the temperatures rose, the dragons came out to play including this nearly perfect male Eastern Pondhawk (the females of this species are bright green). I find these dragons to be somewhat difficult to photograph as 1) they are usually in motion and 2) when they perch, it is usually on the ground. This one stayed in his spot on the ground (maybe not fully warmed up yet) and I was able to get down on the ground and position the camera to get some eye level shots before he took off. I am putting a pic in Extra of a male Widow Skimmer, another very striking ode.
We also encountered a family with a young Belgian Tervuren who they'd just rescued a few days. She was so pretty that I had to take a few pics so I'll put one of them in Extra too.
Made a couple of stops on the way home and managed to get here just in time to join Hubs for lunch. Then some pottering around outside followed by an unplanned FT visit with my parents which was very nice. And then an unexpected nap on the sofa with Jax.

And I will tag this for TinyTuesday since it's sort of tiny - with thanks to JDO for hosting!
