Greed, Hatred, and Delusion
The best I can do for a photo today is the color match between the man’s Earth, Wind, and Fire T-shirt and the Doc Martens shop logo on the corner. I was waiting for a bus, on the way to an acupuncture appointment. Nothing else called to me, but I am only barely functional because people are starving in Gaza right before our eyes.
Nearly a thousand civilians in Palestine have been killed while seeking food since May. People queueing for food in a country that has no food, are shot, gassed, and assaulted by Israeli forces. The government of my country sends Israel more killing machinery.
Why are all the governments on earth not demanding a stop to this? How can we all go on about our lives, seeing/feeling this horror, this abomination?
Can anyone in the UK explain this to me: gray-haired, kind people in Bristol are being arrested for sitting peacefully on the sidewalk holding signs that say they oppose genocide. Doesn’t everyone oppose genocide? Is anyone in favor of genocide? The Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, says Israel’s actions are “a grotesque spectacle recking [wreaking?] a terrible human cost.” If Lammy (and everyone else) knows it is a grotesque spectacle, why is opposing it an act of (reads @RobBris50 again) terrorism?
Edit: I asked, at the end of this blip, if the whole planet has gone mad. I apologize for that. There are people who might be called "mad" who do no harm to anyone but themselves. The people who are perpetrating this harm are not "mad" in that sense, but they are driven by greed, hatred, and delusion. One of their delusions is that satisfying their desires is more important than saving the lives of children and other living things.
