W-I-D-E on Wednesday: "Long"

This is a loooong pedestrial tunnel under the A19 main road just to the east of Newcastle. The tunnel was part of my route for quite a long walk to collect my car from its annual service and "MOT" (the legally required car health check).

It had initally failed its MOT on the basis of excessive exhaust emissions, which was found to be due to a faulty oxygen sensor (aka lambda sensor) in the exhaust system (the sensor "reports to" the Engine Control Unit to tell it to adjust the air/fuel mixture appropriately). This was going to involve a significant bill for me until I pointed out that it was covered in the Lifetime Warranty (up to 100,000 miles) which Vauxhall was offering for a few years about the time I bought the car 11 years ago. It took a me quite a long time spent in polite persuasion to get them to go and check that I was right about it being covered - success!
