Painted Lady

Remarkable as it may seem, the caterpillars that Wendy has been raising in a Petri dish full of gel, have emerged into lovely Painted Lady butterflies!
I will have to take back all my sceptical remarks!
I do think it’s wonderful that she has seen this amazing transformation in real life, and I’m sure that it is something she will never forget.
Apparently she would now like to try the stick insect project, so that’s one Christmas present ticked off. I did tell her about my experience with them when I was her age, and how I ended up with dozens of the creepy things…but her mother seems happy for her to have a go!
