Migratory Hawker

Another at home day. Further progress made.

I went into the garden mid morning, thinking I would find something for today’s abstract challenge. To my surprise, a dragonfly was quartering over the garden, and to my further surprise it landed on a clematis flower. I took quite a few photos.

It has to be today’s image. The main blip image is focussed in on the head and thorax, in an attempt at abstraction (not particularly successful). The extra is the whole dragonfly. It is I think an immature male migratory hawker. Apparently once the males emerge from the larval stage they avoid water for 7 to 10 days, which explains the garden visit.
