Morning by the river

Early morning walk,
let Leo choose the way and
he picked.. river!

Early walk by the river, we started at the woods but Leo decided river was his preference! Home for a call with Ben’s new occupational therapist which was far too long and I was only just done in time to have a quick lunch and then set off to go and see Ben for our first family visit. He was on good form again, it was lovely to see him in his new environment. He was very comfortable with the staff and the place, Mr KCNQ2Haiku and I felt very much like we were unnecessary to him. He even said, “no offence but I don’t miss you at all..”, that sounds like it would be upsetting but honestly, seeing him having his needs met without us is just so encouraging and a little bit vindicating. He still enjoyed chatting with us, showing us the outdoor play equipment and the mementos he had from his school leavers prom and we played a bit of a board game but when it was time to go, he just said goodbye and let us go. I never thought it would be like this and I’m so impressed with the rapport the home staff have built with him already. We came home, only a little bit jangled and have come up for the weekend in the north Pennines, fresh air and deep breaths seem to be the order of the day!
