Maupin, Oregon

We left Madras this morning after a good night’s sleep and headed to Maupin, about a 50 minute drive. We fished for a couple of hours, still on the Deschutes River, and I managed to hook a pretty big trout! I was so surprised and had no idea what to do with it, being a novice. By the time Dick came to help me it had worked its way off of the hook. But I saw it - so close to me and the surface of the water - probably 12” long.

We had a terrific lunch in Maupin, checked into our hotel and then went out fishing again. Alas, no bites.

It was a really hot day - high 90’s F, although very dry and windy. Were very glad for the air conditioning!
