Eucomis

Also known as a Pineapple flower, I can't think why!! The flowers grow from bulbs and seemingly thrive on neglect which is handy.  The container is full to overflowing so when the foliage has died off in the Winter it will be the right time to split them up.
A warm sunny day with a little breeze tempted me to do a Tesco run the long way round which very pleasant with the top down on the MX5 until I was passing a field which had obviously been treated  with some obnoxious substance giving off a foul smell  which lingered. As Granny would say "bad enough to stop your clock".
Ah, the joys of the open road!
