Beautiful soil

I'm now back in Devon after a really awful drive. It took me almost 4 hours instead of about 2 and a quarter. For nearly an hour and a half the traffic on the M5 just crawled at walking speed. I was going to get off at Sedgemoor Services but the queue of cars was down the slip road and to the motorway so I just carried on. The next services at Bridgewater was almost gridlocked so I managed to get out of the queue and head back to the motorway and just carried on home. Ziggy slept through it all.
This is a typical view of glass houses in the village I was staying in. It's the heart of the British market garden area. Sadly much of it has now been built on with new housing developments and many of the nurseries are standing empty and unused. It's some of the best soil in the country.
People seem to prefer their salad produce grown in water, (which I think makes them pretty tasteless) usually abroad. Salad crop production is cheaper that way, but not better in my opinion.
