Tiny Dancer
I had wondered why the new watch I bought a few weeks back came with a jewellers loupe in the box.
Well, I found out today, when I wanted to adjust the bracelet to make the watch fit better on my wrist. In order to remove - or add - a link, you need to unscrew 2 - 4 of these little screws (shown sitting on a 5p piece for scale) in order to gain access to the bars that hold the links together.
Then it’s simply(!) a case of reversing the process to complete the job. And that’s where the loupe comes in, as it’s almost impossible to line up the screw just with the naked eye.
It’s also quite useful if you should, say, happen to drop one - or more - of those screws on the floor. On to a carpet where the pile is deeper than the screw is long. Then it’s a case of needing the loupe to spot that little flash of metal amongst the fibres.
I should imagine that would be the case anyway. As if I’d be so silly as to drop 3 of those screws on to the floor this morning and then spend half an hour with my face in the carpet looking for them…
