Down Day
Another good night's sleep, wonderful. We almost missed breakfast.
We decided it was time for a quiet day. I've been avoiding swimming so as not to risk my butterfly stitches coming away too soon but today was the day I could take them off. My thumb looks fine but I'll keep plasters on it for a few days .
We decided a day by the pool was in order. The temperature drops on Sunday to the low 30s so we'll put off any excursions till after then. The hotel pool area is very well equipped with a combination of fixed awnings for shade and the more traditional parasols. We settled in under the former so as not to have to waltz the loungers around the pole as the sun moved.
The pool is not particularly big and the temperature is that of a warm bath! I spent a lot of time in the adjacent section of the bay which is marked out for swimming. It's a rocky island, so no gentle sloping beach just some steps down onto a rocky shelf which quickly becomes deep water. A much more pleasing temperature feeling slightly cooler than the air to get into but wonderful as soon as you are wet. So many fish too.
I really missed swimming in the sea in India in February so it was great to be able to be in salt water today.
As ever, I managed to overdo it and have pink shoulders. I may wear a t-shirt to swim tomorrow.
We went into town this evening for a meal, we opted for a restaurant with many plaques outside showing a succession of years of 1 Michelin star. It was really disappointing, so much so that I wrote a negative review which I rarely do. I prefer to praise when ever possible. I noticed as I checked that there had been another similar review from tonight. Perhaps the chef was having a day off. I'm glad we didn't go there for our anniversary celebration though.
Here's this months Art quiz. All this culture must be working for me as I got full marks!
