Sea Sunday
Sea Sunday is the day which many sea side city & town councils set aside to remember seafarers and their families and give thanks for their lives and work. It is officially held on the second Sunday in July but Falmouth moved theirs to the third to allow its dignitaries to attend other ceremonies and vice versa. Sea Sunday in Falmouth is organised by the Royal Naval Association and offers charities such as the Stella Maris, The Mission to Seafarers, Fishermen’s Society and the Sailors' Society as well as non-denominational groups such as Sea Cadets to participate in the parades and raise awareness about life at sea.
Our service today was officiated by the Bishop of Truro and marked the last of my friend Ian’s nine years of organising and participating.
I enjoyed it.
Home after a pasty, pint and the inevitable tot.
Another busy week looming.
