It's dry but bleary
with a little sun peeking
through at random times

I was awake at 6 but the low level of light in my house did not encourage me to get up and out with my camera. When a ray of sunshine suddenly lit up my house I scrambled to get out the door.

By 6:30 I was on my way to Paul Lake. Low cloud hung over the tops of my mountains. I had the road all to myself.

I parked along the west end of the lake near the community mailboxes. I got my long view across the lake looking east. I watched a kayaker unload her craft and ease into the water. A beaver came floating along silently just like the last time I was here. Ducks patrolled independently.

Across the road, the osprey in the nest were flapping their wings and dancing about. In a nearby tree an adult osprey looked back at the nest and called repeatedly. Was the parent trying to encourage the young to take to flight?

On my return going down the hill I found some horses near the roadway. They stood patiently, unlike the deer I've missed this morning.

I'm home for another quiet day with my cranky feet up.
