Postcards from London

We had an epic day in London with blast and rachelwhynot.

Just the pictures for now. More asap. :))

(27/7/25)

I forgot to send my date buddies a message about today's date!

Despite yesterday's late night, we were up early and ready early enough to leave a whole thirty minutes earlier. :))) Eileen drove us to Hayes station and we were soon on our way to North Greenwich, changing at London Bridge. The access to the cable cars is so much better than 13 years ago, when we first went on them.

We soon met up with blast and made our way to the attraction. It was G's first time doing this, and she was thrilled. In honesty, we all were excited! Blast treated us to waffle cone ice creams when we got to the other side. A short walk to the Excel for me to get some photos of the newly acquired property by ADNEC, a name you hear much more in the UAE than in the UK!

Getting to the British Library was easy enough from Euston, but it is much quicker getting off at King's Cross. Either way, lunch was the first thing we needed, so after (eventually) finding the entrance to the Terrace Restaurant, we enjoyed a hearty meal. The big attraction of the British Library was for G to see the Codex Sinaiticus and the Gutenberg Bible, and I wanted to see the Magna Carta. We got to see that and much more.

By this time, we were all quite tired, so it was good to sit in the lounge of St Pancras Hotel and enjoy a bottle of English Sparkling Wine. It was brilliant to be in there. We made our way back to King's Cross and said our goodbyes. We were back at Hayes by 9 PM and stopped at the fish and chip shop before we finally got home. I have to admit, I was falling asleep on the sofa whilst trying to watch the news. It's been an incredible day. I must have taken over a hundred photos, so it was hard to narrow it down even to two collages.
