One more of my weeds.
I think there's little doubt about its ID as Potentilla thurberi 'Monarch's Velvet' AKA Scarlet Cinquefoil. But I'm not sure about the "Perennial" part since it started down here at the bottom of the drive; and wasn't there over two years, if that.
"Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Prefers light, well-drained, sandy loams. Tolerates some dry soils once established.
Potentilla thurberi is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial that is native to coniferous forests, stream banks and moist meadows in Arizona, New Mexico and northern Mexico."
BUT - It obviously sets seed - SO - I'll see if I can save some.
