Secret Garden
A trip to Birkhead's Garden. We parked beside Tanfield Railway and walked along a path where there are several fairy doors (see extra) and past a lovely field of wild flowers (see extra). Although not huge the gardens are wonderful. There is always something different to see.
After seeing the gardens we had our lunch sitting outside of the cafe. Mick, the owner, shouted of us over. A bat had landed on his shoe (see extra). Mick and his wife have been developing the gardens since the late 1970's and he said in all his time there he had never seen a bat during the day although there are plenty at night. After a minute or two the bat just flew off. Once again, a lovely visit.
