The Welland Steam Rally has a parade - from the showground, around some local roads (which may or may not include multiple pubs) and back. Knowing that they set off around noon I walked down to where they would be passing; about a mile away.
I had thought I might need to hurry but I'd underestimated the length of the queue, and overestimated their speed.
Passing the same junction three hours later on the way to the butchers, some engines were still passing. Heaven knows where they were going to park at the pubs.
At the front were a pair of double-headed traction engines (never seen that before) towing a mahoosive tank. See the extra photo. It's only just occurred to me that it was probably full of water to refill the parade en-route.
They had picked a route that could, with foresight, be avoided by normal traffic but I pity anyone who accidently found themselves in the queue.
