Arles
A day of cultural exploring.
We were up and out early doors to try and beat the heat. We bought tickets for 4 attractions . First stop was the baths of Constantine (extra), then the amphitheater (blip), onto the Roman theatre where a stage was being set up for a performance that evening. I discovered who was playing and Mr C was very excited as he has a few of their albums, a French duo, Air. I think we might have been able to get tickets but with a long drive tomorrow, we couldn’t afford a super late night. Last stop was the crypt which was absolutely huge. However, I felt the lighting was poor with such uneven ground.
We stopped for a drink and snack next to Van Gogh Cafe, the cafe he painted in Night at the cafe. The cafe itself was closed but lots of Japanese tourists were taking many photos, individual and group ones.
Back out for the evening for dinner and then we walked up to the theatre to see what we could hear. Available seating (big blocks outside the gates) and we took our pew and waited. Air came on at 10pm, we listened to the first three songs and then meandered back to our hotel. (Extras).
