Back Home

It feels so strange being back in my Edinburgh Life again. It’s so different in every way from my Orkney existence , not only in the domestic responsibilities coming with house ownership but the feeling of being remote from the sea.
My flight home went without a hitch- no visit to the airport reconciliation room this time and no charge for my case being overweight. I blame the bars of Orkney Fudge, the cheese and the butter winging their way home with me.

The house and plants survived my absence thanks to my kind neighbour and the only event of any note seemed to be that one of the hall smoke alarms fell from the ceiling -very strange.

You can see that Princess , my avocado plant, has developed very long arms  in my absence. She is growing beyond her station in life on the window sill. I wish I could send her soaring up to one of Selkies’ polycroos where she could lead the life to which she obviously thinks she deserves.

The Sunday meeting with the MerryWidows took place in Söderberg this morning. There was much to talk about. My neighbour popped in after lunch to return my house keys and keep me abreast of local gossip. I’m back home.
