Roll With It

Long Goodbye

It’s Tuesday so a few hours on the gig, second undercoat almost on just a couple of square feet to finish on Friday.

Home for a coffee and a long hot shower before Mrs S and I headed off laden down to the Athenaeum Club and friend Ian’s last Branch Meeting for a good while. It seems a lifetime since Ian announced that he and wife Sharon were off to Australia, emigrating to Queensland but as we approach the final week the time is flying by.
We have accumulated a good deal of lovely things that they are unable to take with them, a 1/3 size anvil , tools made from pre - nuclear steels and iron, tools that belonged to previous generations of his family. All will be looked after, all will be cherished.

So tonight his Shipmates & friends said the more formal farewell, we never say goodbye, at our monthly meeting. A large turnout, probably the most for twenty-five years, enjoyed a tot or two of rum, a pint or two and a buffet, an enjoyable evening.

Today’s photo shows our President, Commodore Tony Hogg AFC on the right presenting Ian with his leaving ‘gizzit’, fortunately he liked it.

Farewell my friend, catch up with you soon.
