Family gathering

Only one night at the flat in Armaside before travelling up to Edinburgh for a family gathering and a week or so in the city with Susan’s sister and husband. Also proof of concept as getting to Edinburgh without the 10 hour drive from Kent is one of many reasons for moving to the Lakes.

A bit of a calamity at the flat first thing as the flat below us had a blocked pipe resulting in quite a mess downstairs. We couldn’t use any water so were invited to use the guest shower in the main house. The attendance of the Drain Doctor was awaited as we left.

We intended to go to Lingholm for breakfast. It finished at 11.00 so we went to Wellington Farm which was just as good, setting off from there to Edinburgh which we reached in 2 1/2 hours.

It was Susan’s nephew’s birthday today and it would have been Doreen’s 100th - she died at 98, 4 months short of her 99th. A great family spread was on offer, the star of the show was little R, 5 week old son of another branch of the family. Somehow, the children here related to the little guy!
