Florence comes to stay

It was a changeover day chez hazelh today. Having waved off Cousin Ellie on her journey north this morning, our niece Florence arrived this afternoon to stay with us for a week.

Florence's first ever long distance train ride solo today was a bit of a trial. She arrived at Waverley over two hours later than timetabled. This was due to late-running engineering works and an electrical fault between Kings Cross and Stevenage.

Earlier in the day, this morning I planned our meals for August. Then Mr hazelh and I did our monthly 'big' supermarket shop. This afternoon we were very happy to be invited to a mini-blipmeet afternoon tea at Ridgeback13's new house, as recorded in Ridgeback13's journal

For my blip I photographed Florence with Mr hazelh outside John Lewis on the way back home to our flat not long after we all met on the platform at the station. The photograph also served as proof to Florence's parents that she survived her journey.

The three of us raced home to watch England win the Euros championship. We learnt the score a little later than everyone else because we watched the whole game on iPlayer catch-up.

Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; walking 13,241 steps).
