Daisybank park’s looking dry
Went for coffee in the morning at Felt cafe, by the river Frome. Visited a charity shop on the way back. I didn’t buy anything, I walked up the hill home.
Not so long afterwards. I walked over to see S and I . They gave me lunch, I brought strawberries, and we talked of travel and other topics.
Walked home, messed around a bit, then S and I watched the football. In case you haven’t heard, the English women’s team won the European cup! Oh yes they did! They played Spain (world favourites) and at full time it was 1-1, so they then played another thirty minutes, then a penalty shoot-out, which England won. If that sounds tense, it was. The last three England games have ended in penalty shoot-outs. I like watching women’s football because it’s played differently, commented on differently, and there’s a lot more talk of the team and mutual support. And the players seem to behave ‘normally’ off the pitch. Or if they don’t, for some reason I don’t hear about it. Talking of women behaving badly, S and I shared a bottle of Prosecco during the game (2.5 glasses each) and after our meal that followed the game, I had to go and lie down, and promptly fell asleep for two hours ! No swearing or fighting, though. I just can’t drink as I used to.
