Dawes Twine Works
The twine works are open one day a month, usually they have a talk but today they pulled hemp the school children had grown on site to help show the process it went through to make twine. The old Victorian machinery still works. And someone had brought an Irish curragh, and some old sails made locally - this was a flax growing area so there was a lot of sailmaking going on many years ago. Then we enjoyed a pleasant cuppa and homemade cakes!
Very behind with blips but will infill!
