Bees on the Cardoon!
They positively adore it! As many as 5 or 6 at a time, all kinds of bees and hover flies.
This is just one flower head out of 5 which have opened whilst we were away.
Loads of bees in the lavender as well.
Busy day.
We had our eldest granddaughter here for the morning, (her brother was occupied elsewhere today.)
It was a lovely time.
It was suggested that we all write a newspaper article, using a template from the internet.
You can insert photos and add headlines and subtitles.
It looked like the three of us were working in an office. My article was about the old water mill in Winchester.
I took some photos to let her parents know what she had been doing today.
Grandad wrote a piece about the current disruption going on at the school across the road, not without some humour, with photos of two lorries leaving the site, which Libby took with my camera as they stood on the front doorstep.
(Well reporters have to be on the spot don’t they! )
The whole roof needs replacing!
And that is two buildings! One of them is the Special School. And the other one a Primary School.
There are parking restrictions on our road, as this week lorries are trundling up and down delivering scaffolding and materials.
Living opposite the main gate means a lot of noise!
Three temporary classrooms are going to be deposited by a crane at some point in the school grounds. All the classrooms are on the first floor so they have to be evacuated.
That means an awful lot of extra work for the teaching staff.
Once that school roof has been done they will start on the other one,
The whole thing is scheduled for two years!
Good job we have double glazing!
Once the “Newsroom” had closed I printed off all the articles so our Editor in Chief could take them home with her.
Before I took her home, I showed her the Wood Pigeon sitting on the nest in the Liquid Amber tree by the summerhouse,
She took some photos with my camera and I downloaded them and sent them to her phone.
After we had had our lunch we had a shorter walk to the Farmhouse Bistro.
Once back home I repotted two of my orchids.
And now it is time for tea!
I’ll attach a photo of my current view in extras, it is just beginning to feel a little autumnal.
