Penfold Postbox, South Parade, Llandudno
MONDAY
We headed out just after 9:00 this morning for a day in Llandudno, as Prue had a couple of appointments.
I parked on the promenade, which made things easy. While she was at her appointments, I spent most of the day wandering around the town and along the seafront. Always plenty to see, a few shops to browse, including some I hadn’t come across before.
Lunchtime in Llandudno is usually a bit of a guessing game. The street cafés often look the part but don’t always deliver. So today, I booked lunch at The Imperial Hotel. It turned out to be a great choice—good food and service, and a comfortable setting on the terrace which was ideal for a bit of people-watching.
Back home around 5:30 after a steady day out.
Just along from the Imperial is this "Penfold" pillar box on South Parade. First introduced in the 1860s and designed by John Penfold, it has a distinctive hexagonal shape with some nice decorative features including the cap that is decorated with acanthus leaves,
