Puzzling

We were expecting another hot and muggy day. Right now, our heat index is 105°F. I chose to delay the butterfly bush deadheading project, phase 2. My mother was up before I had dressed post shower. Hubby had to leave to pick up Brooklyn from early soccer practice. They took our trash and recycling to the convenience center and dropped off our monthly donation for our nuns. Kim made her promised zucchini bread. Hubby pick up ours and Renee’s. Meanwhile, I finished preparing Momma’s breakfast and ate my fruit/bagel with her. Last night, I decided to try jigsaw puzzles as a way to keep Momma alert. She just doesn’t seem able to complete crossword puzzles as in the past. She was an expert at one time. Hubby sat up the table and I got out a new 300 piece puzzle with large pieces for her to try. She repeatedly said how much she enjoys putting them together. I found all the edges and collected pieces by color into small containers to make it easier. I certainly did not want to create confusion or frustration. She managed to put some edges together but her head was on the table way too soon. We will try again tomorrow. I cleaned the rooms within sight of her chair but cannot leave her alone, ever. She tried to get out of her chair unassisted and almost turned it over. I will be going to physical therapy on Wednesdays, starting the first week of August. They may not be able to fit me in for two days each week. Just so they can relieve the pain by October, I will be happy. Hubby trimmed around everything and cleaned up any mess outside. He has now lost 21 pounds, catching up to me for sure. He has two advantages over me; he can go out and about and takes a medicine with weight loss as a side effect. Momma ate lunch and is now napping. Hubby is fading fast. Jamie stopped by for a visit but he had a work issue arise so his visit was cut short. He is the oldest grandchild and loved to fish as a child (still does). My parents had him in a boat quite often. Momma is reminiscing, she spends a lot of time thinking of the past. Her family is like a giant jigsaw puzzle, all different but somehow fitting together. Dinner will be easy so I am hoping for some Kindle time. Wishing a quiet evening for you as well. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by. “There are no extra pieces in the universe. Everyone is here because he or she has a place to fill, and every piece must fit itself into the big jigsaw puzzle.” - Deepak Chopra
