Six-Spotted Tiger Beetle
The morning temps were in the 70s°F so I got up early planning to deadhead the butterfly bushes. My mother got up just as I was ready to walk out the door. Hubby planned to go pick up meds and groceries. We cleaned any pollen off the back porch, wiped down the patio set and made her breakfast. She ate out there while I pruned the bush next to the porch. Momma enjoys being outside. She’s never liked air conditioning so she stayed out for a while. By the time I got out there, it was sunny and hot; I did not finish the job. I will try again tomorrow. I asked Momma to enjoy her coffee while I looked for a blip in close proximity to the porch. Found a daisy and white crepe myrtle. But then my eye caught this shiny beetle in the grass. Job done. I was soaked but could not leave Momma alone. Thankfully, I had clothes I could change into that had just been washed. I can hear her from the powder room so was able to get rid of the sweat. I did a load of laundry and cleaned the kitchen. Later, Momma decided to go back to bed, said she felt dizzy. Hubby brought in the groceries and meds. After putting everything away, I gathered all the fixings for homemade pizza. He made his and went out to mow the lawn. Just as mine came out of the oven, Momma headed out of the bedroom. She usually says no to pizza but I made her some just in case. She chose pork and veggies. While I heated her plate, she snagged some of my pizza and decided it was pretty good. Guess she’ll have more tomorrow. Kim went to my sister’s to pick vegetables since they are in WV. What a large bounty. She filled my kitchen island with cucumbers, yellow and red tomatoes, various types of sweet peppers and zucchini. She took some of each vegetable. Will make us more zucchini/carrot and walnut bread. Renee stopped by. She plans to make pickles and salsa for the beach trip. I packed a bag for Lauren and hope Kristen will stop by. Leftover meatloaf is on our dinner menu. The heat index is 101°F so we are in for the day. Momma and Hubby are napping. I may be close behind them. Wishing you time to rest. Stay safe.
