Quarry Bank Mill

We had a day out at Quarry Bank Mill and Styal Country Park (National Trust). We've not been for a few years and there are quite a few changes and more things to see / do.
I had planned to do an adventure lab cache as well since we were going past all five stages of it looking at things / walking and I added in a couple of others and the bonus cache. I collected all the information for the bonus but at the end of the day had run out of time, energy and inclination so left it and the two extras.
There is a lot to see and do there and the day flew by. We strolled down to the mill having a look at a few things on the way ie gardens and Quarry Bank House. We hadn't expected it to be open (NT website said shut all summer holidays) so it was a pleasant surprise to find it open. We've never been in it before.
We spent a good while in the mill as there is a lot to see even if you've been before. After that we caught the shuttle up to the Apprentice House for a guided tour and some of the stories were similar but some a bit different from when we last came.
After this we had a late lunch in the cafe before heading off to walk through Chapel Woods to go and see the old cottages, cross and chapel. I gathered the lab stages on the way, finishing with the apprentice house which we passed on our way back. I had all the information now to work out the coords for the bonus cache but when I did I saw it would mean backtracking and then a walk along Altrincham Road. I hadn't the energy, time or inclination for it and I could have asked Terry to run me by it and the other two extras I thought of doing but I couldn't be bothered - time to find a toilet then go home!
Had a lovely day.
Terry filled up with petrol not long after we left and the teatime traffic on the drive home was nowhere near as bad as expected.
Now I need to print my paperwork for tomorrow's caching trip to Wigan.
Extras: Norcliffe Chapel and some of the mill machinery.
