River of Flowers

Tuesday: Wild Basil …

… according to “Flora Incognita” app, a few plants of this have appeared in flower pots around the garden, I have no recollection of buying it BUT six years ago - I’d sown some seed (from the Cottage Garden Society) - https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2590274326800370892  - would it take that long to flower? Mystery …!

This morning I made some Broccoli and Stilton soup, my simple recipe:
chop a very small onion and fry in about a tablespoonful of olive oil in a large pan on a very low heat.
Peel 3 carrots and 3 large potatoes and cut up into small cubes, add about a pint of cold water and a small head of fresh or frozen broccoli - quantities don’t really matter.
Bring the soup to the boil, then turn heat down and cook for 20 to 30 minutes until vegetables are soft.
Blend with hand blender or mash with potato masher to the consistency that you like, add salt and black pepper to taste then chop up your Stilton cheese and add as much or as little as you like, add more water if necessary … enjoy!

I’ve been collecting windfall Bramley cooking apples which I stewed with frozen blackberries from last autumn :-)

Tonight I’m watching “Sewing Bee” …
