Edinburgh Old Town catching the evening sun

Our 23rd wedding anniversary today which coincides with Barbara and David’s 47th.

We did our own thing this morning. Caught a bus part of the way into the city then walked along the Union Canal onto Lothian Road, down to Princes Street, into Waterstones for a coffee then into Princes Street gardens.

We met up with Barbara and David at the Scottish Malt Whisky Society rooms in Leith for an anniversary meal. Several drams may have been consumed each with an imaginative and creative name. We tried:

Sweet harvest festival
All round sweet and sensual
Nectareous enticements and
Will spark conversation

I’ll leave you to guess which I had…

A series of buses and trams took us back up to Balerno.

A good day. Passed the Walk1000miles milestone of 1000 miles for this year, two days ahead of last year. Our twelfth consecutive year of completing the challenge.

Thank you all so very much for your lovely and supportive comments about yesterday’s news. Your words were very comforting.

On another note, many of you liked the Low Gill viaduct from Saturday. It featured in the opening titles of the 1980s BBC documentary “Train Now Departing” presented by Miles Kingston: https://youtu.be/1pIiUiyaYdQ?si=MJtSlnHD9rx4ISKK
