Duckdog Trials

Merion Owen, seen here with the microphone, normally takes part in Sheepdog Trials, but for the town's Summer Show, he brought ducks rather than sheep.  I guess they are easier to transport from his home in Wales. His dog, Helen, demonstrated her skills at herding the ducks around the field and successfully guided them through the blue plastic tunnel. 

The display was billed as "Merion Owen and the Quack Pack".  He was an entertaining showman and the display was much appreciated by the crowd.

This is the first time I have been present for the Summer Show here, and it was quite extensive, with choirs, a fun dog show, a circus skills workshop, Punch and Judy and other children's entertainments, as well as marquees housing competitions for Horticulture, Floral Art, Handicrafts, Cookery, Photography, Art etc.  Had I known, I guess I could have entered the Photography competition:  the entries I saw were generally uninspiring. There were also handicraft stalls and some trade stalls.  Quite impressive for a fairly small town.
