Went up to the Avenue for a few things from m and s and to scour the charity shops. I wanted a baby activity book - one with things to press and feel and maybe a little mirror that I could cut up and incorporate into a play mat for my nephew’s baby( due at the end of October). I wasn’t successful so will need to go into town. After coffee and some tidying and admin I got changed for some serious gardening! I was going to take out the huge shrub which was between the acer and twisted hazel as it was obscuring most of twisty branches. However I decided to cut it back really hard as it’s already put out a couple of new shoots. I weeded and cleared all the area that had been exposed. I foolishly let St plant vinca there a couple of years ago and of course it had spread and the ground was full of roots. Hopefully I’ve got most of them out but will need to keep an exe on it. After that I distributed all the topsoil saved from the pond digging around the garden. There were a lot of stones snd roots in it though so it all needed sorting. After that I planted everything that was sitting in buckets of water after being removed from the area where the the pond is now. It still needs more plants, but I won’t buy any until I get back from Edinburgh in case its hot whilst I’m away. It was 6pm by the time I’d finished all that so cleated up and came inside for a shower.
Was interested to see that the house wall is reflected in the pond water.
