Saumur ~ Tour de France

Mr C and I have been embarking on our own personal Tour de France (no cycling involved) and we were delighted to discover that one of the legs of the ladies Tour de France went from Saumur today.  

In the morning we walked up to the chateau.  The views and outside were stunning but the inside was a little disappointing. There were a couple of exhibitions but nothing to do with the history of the chateau.

We had a light lunch and then found a place to wait for the tour.  I think we waited more than an hour, possibly nearly two and then they sped by in 2 seconds flat :-D Anyway it was good to be part of.

We then took a little river trip on the Loire where we were also treated to a small cup of sparkling wine and a local biscuit.

In the evening I had the worst moules and frites I’ve ever had.  We did have a nice sunset walk though.

We head off to our last stop tomorrow before heading home on Saturday.
