Look Out

A late appearance

It has been a day of sorting lots of things out.

I was in the conservatory at one point when I heard familiar chirpings outside so I went to investigate. Two martins flew out of the nest, and below on the ground were egg fragments. Notwithstanding that the scaffolding is still up next door (although the workmen were not there today) the birds have produced a second brood. How successful they will be remains to be seen.

I then noticed swifts drifting silently across the sky, the first I think I’ve seen this month. This once common bird is vanishing from our skies, it’s always good to see them. These were probably heading back south.

And then - after today’s rain, and then heavy cloud, the Sun made a ghost like appearance, filtered through the cloud so I could look directly at it. At 4.5 billion years old, it meets the requirements of today’s blip challenge.
