Usk Castle

Today I visited Usk Castle for the first time, and was very impressed. A most splendid vantage point, quite a lot of the castle remaining compared to many Welsh castles, and a homely touch in the handwritten signs and many chainsaw carvings dotted round, mostly of dogs. This is looking across to the Treasure Tower, built in 1289, which housed Gilbert de Clare's revenues. The bits and pieces on the lawn in front are delightfully whimsical.
