Royal Grapes

After yesterday's failure to find local grapes for sale at the weekly market I did find them today and practically on our doorstep. Only a 1o minutes walk away is a complex of greenhouses and wine cellars, where they grow Royal and Muscat grapes and use the grapes that are left over after sales (not just theirs but all the left overs from local grape growers) to make their own wines ! Can you imagine my surprise, I really need to explore the neighbourhood a bit further.
Had a tour in their greenhouses and the wine cellar and bought a bunch of Royal grapes and 2 samples of their wine, a dry white one and dry white sparkling one :-) They call their cellars and wines 'Sonien' after the Sonian Forest. They're cooling in the fridge now and we'll have grapes for dessert !

PS One of the things I learned today is that the beautiful discolouration of the leaves in the picture means the vine needs more magnesium !
