Water mill Overijse

Thursday is the day for the weekly market in our village. In this festival week the usual market place is now taken over by the fair ground, so the market stalls were now set up in several streets and finding a parking place was even more difficult than on other market days. I finally managed to find a place near this old water mill. As far as I can find out there already used to be a water mill in this place in 1300. It was used to mill grain. Fairly recently the mill has been renovated with the help of volunteers and is now used to raise electricity.
Every little bit helps !

Because of this Grape Festival there is an exhibit about grapes in the Market Hall, so I went in to have a look. Rather disappointingly all that was exhibited were bunches of grapes, decked out with ribbons, I guess this was a competition for the best grapes of the region. They all looked the same to me and sampling was not allowed ;-)

I did really want to try out these special grapes however, but couldn't find them anywhere for sale on the market! Will have another try tomorrow , surely someone is actually selling them :-)
