Life is like a river

Roadtrip to Grenivík and Húsavík

The weather was lovely when we woke up this morning and we decided to make the most of it. Picked up my mother around noon and drove north the fjord to Grenivík, back through Fnjóskadalur and then all the way to Húsavík. We had coffee and warm "aspasstykki" and a giant cinnamon bun at a new place called Dísu Café. It was delightful to be able to sit outside in the sun (certainly not always possible in Iceland, even though it's summer...and it's actually a bit scary since the weather in Scandinavia has been unusually warm lately) and this beautiful red house was my main view. A long soak in the Geothermal Sea Baths was a really nice end to the day and then it had started to rain when we walked back to our car and began the hour long drive home to Akureyri.

Two extra photos today, one is the village of Grenivík (the view reminded me of our trip to Scotland 11 years ago) and the other one my mother and Daníel taking in the view to Hjalteyri, Hauganes, Árskógsströnd, Dalvík and Hrísey.

Today it's been 14 years since I posted my first photo on Blipfoto. What a great community we have here!
