6 Spot Burnett Moth

Back in London now but not before going up on the Leys in a quick search for these moths.  They are quick, none of this fluttering about from flower to flower like the butterfly family instead they dart, wings a blur as they move, momentarily stopping on a wild flower, knapweed or thistle being their favourite food.  These moths are poisonous and give off hydrogen cyanide if attacked - look but do touch.
I have not been very successful with butterflies this year so pleased to have found these day-time moths
Extra - a threesome.

Miranda has told me the flower this moth is on is marjoram, there is a huge amount of it growing wild so l will forage some of it next time l am up there.
