Marjorie's ramblings

Every (peach, pear) and plum(s)

I saw that Allan Ahlberg died on 31st July. The books he wrote with his wife have delighted many children and parents.

Before he became a writer he worked as a postman (not an especially jolly one, he recalled), gravedigger, plumber, and teacher.

Today I was in Newcastle first thing to see my very lovely psychiatrist. I continue to think I am lucky to have such a sympathetic and sensible supporter. I’ve been sleeping badly and the problems with my joints are not helping. I feel much more positive now.

I went to Julie’s for coffee, chat, a bit of fixing her technology and then lunch. All lovely.

I returned west in high winds on the roads. I drove to Hexham to see Maureen and had a lovely hour with her. It was hard to hear her today until a hilarious moment when she shouted at me because I could not hear what she wanted me to do. She can speak loudly but the effort is too great to keep it going.

I saw photos of her family, including her great nephew’s baby. The family is coming and she will meet the baby this weekend.

Margret’s house will be sold with completion next Monday. My lips are sealed, but the new occupant is very famous in some circles!

I came away from seeing Mark and Margret with a few books to add to my large collection! The plums are from two trees that rarely fruit, but have done so prolifically this year. The birds have pecked nearly every one, but I have arranged them so that you can’t tree the damage!
