Fresh snow in summer
I felt better today and the weather was promising so we decided to drive around the mountain to Davos to do a hike from there.
However before we left went into the village to speak to the agent who looks after the building as our oven is faulty, it heats up but is not reaching the correct temperature so the food comes out undercooked. The agent's offices were closed for a ‘ruhetag’ - a rest day is very common here for restaurants and some businesses. We then decided to go see Theresa who helped furnish our apartment and did all the interior soft furnishings many years ago. She now has a highly successful interior decorating business with offices here, in St Moritz and also in Zurich. She was super helpful, she phoned a few electricians but as it is a V-Zug oven it needed a V-Zug engineer to come repair it. She then phoned V-Zug and managed to get an appointment for someone to come out on Wednesday. We were so grateful for her help, especially as all these phone calls were in Swiss German and we would have struggled trying to explain the issue and give the correct information to the person on the other side of the call.
We then finally left for Davos where we got the gondola to the top of the Jakobshorn mountain and walked down to Sertig. It was not sunny as promised and in fact it was very mizzly and damp. Going high up the mountain was not the best thing for me as with my head cold I got earache and all day my ears have been either blocked or popping. With all the rain and cooler weather we have had fresh snow falling on the peaks, as can be seen in this photo of us.
It was a good hike, and from there we got the bus back to Davos and back to our car.
We had a golf booking for 5pm, I wasn't sure that I felt like playing but realised it was too late to cancel so off we went. On arrival we found that another person had been added to our two ball booking. Nothing like playing with a stranger to focus the mind on one’s golf, I had the best round of 9 holes I have ever played! He was a very pleasant man from Davos and we had a good round together.
It was a very pleasant day, the weather is still not great but tomorrow sunshine has been promised! Gavin flies back to London tomorrow for his scan on Wednesday. In other news, Anna left today for her new life in San Diego with Adam! She has loved living in Cambridge and I really hope they come back one day.
