Flowers and butterflies

Summer returned today, we woke up to bright sunshine and blue skies. We had breakfast and then went to get groceries, not the best time to shop as the local supermarket had not yet received a fresh delivery of fruit and vegetables so some things were not as fresh as we would have liked and I will go back when they have fresher stock.

We had a golf booking for 10.30am. I knew that after my pleasing round of 9 holes yesterday that today would not go well - golf is a true leveller, just when you think you have cracked it, it all goes pear shaped again! I had a very mixed round but hey, tomorrow is another day! The golf club - which is very modest and small - is busy trialling two robotic lawn mowers, these are extra clever as they are run off GPS and are programmable so are able to cut the lawn in the intricate patterns around the greens and cut in circles where needed - unlike the usual type that only go up and down in straight lines.

We had a quick lunch at home and then Gavin left to drive to Zurich to get his flight back to London. I took Xena on a long walk, I wanted to photograph butterflies and I was also enjoying seeing the wild flowers. Starting at the top left and going clockwise -  Pink  Mallow, Scotch Argus butterflies,  Scheuchzer's Bellflowers, and a Silver Washed Fritillary.

Gavin's flight is delayed - no surprise, hey British Airways - but will get home late tonight and then has his scan at the Royal Marsden tomorrow morning. It will be good that he is able to check on the house and empty the post box which must be pretty full by now.
