Flossie
Back blip! Flossie had a reprieve yesterday. She fell backwards down the front steps about three weeks ago and when they took her to the vets two weeks ago they discovered that she had chipped her ankle and had a floating bit of bone and the tendon was in danger of snapping! It was suggested that she needed an operation to pin and plate the leg! Sian and Ian were just about to go on holiday with both dogs in the van! They set off to stay with Ian’s parents on the way and then got a message to say that Flossie could have her operation on the 4th. The holiday was cancelled and they were able to stay with Ian’s parents.
Going to Newquay to the vet who was an expert on this operation was a revelation. He suggested that since she was 10 it may be better not to have the operation but to see how she got on and if the tendon snapped then to bring her back and he would operate then. Ian had bought her a brace for the ankle and she seems to be coping well at the moment. Sian decided to take the advice not to put Flossie through a major procedure which would have meant being caged for at least two weeks which she has never experienced before being a dog raised on a farm. Apparently physio might help her with the inflammation in the joint. It was a joy to go for a little walk with them yesterday.
