Nina’s Day
The day belongs to Granddaughter Nina who was the first of my two grandchildren who sat their Higher exams in May to phone me from Uist where she is holidaying to tell me her results this morning. Grandson Theo hadn’t signed up to get his results over the internet and so will have to wait until he gets back from Orkney to get his letter.
Nina got 7 A band Highers , 2 of which she studied on her own since her school could only give her tuition in 5. I am so proud of how she single mindedly applied herself to all her subjects and worked so hard under less than ideal circumstances to achieve her aim.
I am expecting great things from Theo too but will have to wait a little longer to hear.
I decided to forego the Porty swim this morning and let the tail end of Floris leave the party. Instead I made a safari across town to buy some Shetland wool for a second FairIsle kep. I may have a box of existing wool but not enough in the right colour- ‘twas always thus.
I had time to have a coffee in Söderberg when I got home and was pleasantly surprised to be joined by my school friend who had strayed unexpectedly into my hood. There was time for a chat before I scurried home to greet my newly itinerant chiropodist and get some footsie pampering.
A very proud Grandma with two happy feet!
