River of Flowers

Tuesday: Close Encounter …

… with a Carder Bee!
I went down the path to open the greenhouse door this morning, gave the tomato plants some water, then noticed the carder bee - I thought the greenhouse had been closed all night and immediately felt a duty to feed the “prisoner”. It was quite happy on the palm of my hand as I wandered around the very windy garden looking for a suitable nectar flower - we eventually settled on the chicory flowers, which are also in a fairly sheltered part of the garden, it’s blowing a gale again!

MrD returned soon after the rescue and said I’d left the greenhouse door open all night … oops! But not a problem either - spending time with such a beautiful and gentle creature has really made my day :-))

MrD continued with the construction of the fence and I think the whole length is almost complete, there were a few modifications necessary … I’ll Blip the fence on completion … :-))

I found a huge plant of “Bardsey Daisy” Anthemis punctata in a pot with assorted weeds, it’s now planted behind the Ginkgo biloba next to the new wall, next to it I also planted a pot full of Hawkweed / pilosella seedlings sown last spring, the white daisy heads and orange dandelion heads should look pretty together next spring :-))

Cleared another small area where wild strawberries have taken over, sprinkled assorted flower seeds on the bare earth - https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3377684441752145628 - might take an update photo tomorrow.
