Garden with a view
A dry day forecast, cloudy with a light breeze. The u3a Gardens & Wildflower Group had arranged to visit Berandhu, a garden by the coast in Appin, a few miles north of Oban. We arrived at 2pm and had a welcome and a brief history by the owners, then set off to wander about the garden.
There were a lot of lovely plants, but what was the absolute highlight for me was the location - someone would pay millions for a wide sea and mountain view like that, today's Blip! I tried to imagine sitting out the back looking out over the sea to Castle Stalker on a sunny evening, though sadly the sun didn't emerge while we were there.
On the way back we called in at the Racer Café at Barcaldine for coffee and cakes. Not sure where the name comes from, unless it's a throw-back to the old Café Racer culture, where kids on motorbikes used to hang out! The only thing hanging out today was this sign, which was rather amusing - my extra today!
