Wide Wednesday: Steps
Tess and I had a trip down to Seaton in Devon this morning, a place we haven’t visited for a good many years.
We enjoyed a stroll along the sea front and then along the beach to the white cliff in the blip., stopping for coffee and cakes at the cafe at the end of the prom, from where I took this photo. The action of the waves on the steep pebble beach has created a series of steps, rising up to the red sandstone cliffs, which were formed during the Triassic period. The white cliff dates from the Cretaceous period.
We then walked back to the other end of the beach to Axmouth harbour before returning to the same cafe for lunch. Tess is very partial to a crab sandwich which she had seen on the menu and they were definitely worth the extra steps, especially with a bowl of chips.
Fortunately, we still had room for an ice cream before we got back to the car. Can’t go to the seaside and not have an ice cream, to quote Mr Briggs in Our Day Out.
We’d managed 15000 steps by the time we left for home.
