Look Out

Back to the Lake

Two more Lake District Summer Music Festival concerts today.

This morning I drove to Coniston to catch a boat across the lake to Brantwood, which for the last 25 years of his life was John Ruskin’s home. A coffee and excellent fruit scone in the teashop, and then to the studio for the concert. Alexandra Whittingham has made her name posting videos on YouTube of herself playing guitar, and apparently has quite a following. It’s what twenty somethings do. She’s very good.

Then this evening for a concert at Cartmel Priory, to see baroque foursome Red Priest. It was a sell out. The recorder player - quite the extrovert - must have played at least ten different types of recorder.

I took the blip image as I was walking down through the gardens from Brantwood to catch a boat at the jetty. When I arrived this morning the rain had only just abated and the Old Man of Coniston was cloaked in cloud. When I left the cloud had lifted and it was a sunny day.
