More apples
These eating apples are in Margret’s garden. They always look lovely although their flavour is rather subtle let’s say!
I had my knee X-ray this morning. My friend Bruce was the volunteer waiting to greet patients. I also met Peter and Margaret Holmes. They used to walk with us and Peter was a long distance cyclist. He needs a new ankle joint….
In X-ray I was very happy to discover that my new GP had ordered a patella-femoral view as well as a straight X-ray. He has gone further up in my estimation.
I picked up milk and a few (non-essentials) from Aldi, then went to collect Margret. We arrived home just as Brian arrived as planned. We all had coffee then Brian went to his lunch date and I prepared our meal.
I cooked sea trout drizzled with lemon juice, smothered in Greek yoghurt and sealed in a crust of breadcrumbs with tiny pieces of red and yellow peppers. My end had pepper and chilli on it; Margret’s was unseasoned. This is nice with finely chopped parsley in the mix too.
I cooked potatoes (from my compost heap), carrots and green beans. Margret said she had no appetite but she really enjoyed the meal (as did I). We had raspberries and strawberries with cream to finish.
I returned Margret to her room and she was in time for a visit from the district nurse.
The house clearance people were here all day and have made a good job. I rescued a couple of hardly used pans from the pile for the scrap merchant.
PS I heard an interesting discussion on Times Radio today about how Hiroshima was reported in the Times 80 years ago, including letters from important people, like Lord Beveridge, who realised the seriousness and implications of this terrible act.
